Time that is spent with students is never wasted. Every interaction with a student, no matter how minute, is valuable. I believe that my role as a teacher is to take advantage of every small moment I have with my students; to teach them the things that they need to learn on their individual levels. This is a challenge that I wish to take on and excel in.
I also believe that students deserve an equal opportunity. In my classroom, I hope to give all my students an equal opportunity to succeed both in academia and personal growth. Developing the whole child (emotionally, physically, morally, academically, and socially) is of the utmost importance to me because I believe that we all should be taught how to strive for success in all areas; it is possible! To do this, I incorporate Garner’s Multiple Intelligences into my teaching so that all my students will feel successful in at least one area that is partial to them, if not more. By doing this, I believe that each of my students will leave my classroom everyday knowing that they have achieved success! In order to further foster my students’ growth in making stronger connections to what they are learning, I will integrate all the subject areas, via the use of the arts, and provide real-life opportunities inside the classroom. I believe this will help my students understand what they are learning at a deeper level and realize that learning can be meaningful for them. I believe that using such practices that are research-based will allow each of my students to grow tremendously. I believe all these things will help my students take ownership of their learning and success, which is a main goal of mine as a teacher. I believe that when students take ownership of their own learning and success, they have it to hold on to for the rest of their lives. To me, teaching is all about seeing growth in your students, having your students leave your classroom knowing that they are successful, and having your students know that what they learn has meaning! |
