Guess My Rule!
In the lesson below students will be able to help sort classmates, shapes, and manipulatives by playing the game "Guess My Rule". For the manipulatives, I just mixed up unifix cubes, counters, wooden blocks, counting bears, dominoes with colored dots, pattern blocks, etc. Here are a few pictures of the shapes I used to give you an idea.

Lucky Charms Sorts!
In this lesson, students are presented with a real-world problem. General Mills' machines broke and the marshmallows got mixed up. Some of the baggies have way more marshmallows than there should be. The students' jobs are to sort the marshmallows and record how many they have of each kind. They will then report their data back to General Mills to see if they can fix the problem with the machines putting too many marshmallows in one box. This is a great activity to do around St. Patrick's Day.
